Greenlee School Scholarships for 2013-2014:

The Greenlee School awards more than $100,000 in scholarships to incoming and current students each year. Scholarships are donated by our generous alumni and friends.

To be eligible students must be:

  • currently registered full-time as a major or pre-major at the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication during the semester the award will be issued (students taking Jl MC 499 during Spring and Fall semesters are considered full-time by ISU)
  • accepted to ISU and plan to register as a pre-major in advertising or journalism and mass communication in the fall
  • currently registered as a pre-major in advertising or journalism and mass communication

Greenlee School Scholarship Application Information:

Incoming Greenlee School students are considered “pre-majors” in Advertising or Journalism and Mass Communication. Incoming student applicants may be freshmen or transfer students from another college or transferring from another department. In order to receive a scholarship, incoming students must be registered as a full-time Greenlee School student in August 2013.

Please read the instructions carefully at the beginning of the application. You will find more information about individual scholarships that are available this year at the bottom of the application. Each scholarship has “selection criteria” that were established by the scholarship donor. Students should apply for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Financial need is based on the results of your FAFSA – Free Application for Federal Student Aid. To be eligible for scholarships that require financial need, students must submit the FAFSA and the results must be sent to Iowa State University.

The deadline is February 1st. (The 2013 deadline has been extended to February 10th.)

Students are responsible for meeting the criteria such as G.P.A, area of study, financial need, etc. Financial need is based on the FAFSA.

Applications are reviewed in February and awarded by e-mail notification in March each year. Acceptance information will be included in the e-mail and requires a response within the deadline listed in the notification. The scholarship winners are also posted on the Greenlee School website. The scholarships post as 50% of the award in August and 50% in January. To review scholarship awards from previous years, see the awards listed by year in the column on the right side of the page.
